Music Together
Early childhood music and movement classes for children from birth through age 8 and their grownups, run by local licensed centers in more than 2,000 locations. Families sing, dance and play percussion together each week and get recordings and a songbook for home.
What is Music Together?
Music Together is an early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age 8 and the grownups who love them. It was first offered in 1987. Today, classes run in more than 2,000 locations in over 35 countries through independent local centers.
The core idea: every child is born musical, and young children learn music best by watching the adults they love make music. So grownups don't sit on the side. They sing, dance and play along.
How it works
Each week, a trained Music Together teacher leads a class through songs, lullabies, chants and jams with child-friendly percussion instruments. Classes follow one of 12 song collections, so families hear the same songs all session.
When you enroll, you get a code for the recordings and digital songbook in the Music Together app. That way, the songs keep going in the car and at bedtime. Many centers offer in-person, outdoor and online classes.
What it covers
| Class | Ages | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Babies | Newborn to 8 months | Singing, rocking and bonding with your baby |
| Mixed-Age | Birth to 5 | The core family class with siblings together |
| Rhythm Kids | Ages 4–5 and grades K–2 | Drumming, world rhythms, composing and conducting |
| Online | Under 5, whole family welcome | Live classes from your local center |
Centers may also offer Spanish-language classes, Generations classes and guitar for grownups.
Who it's best for
Music Together fits families with babies, toddlers and preschoolers who want a weekly music habit and a social outing. It's great for siblings of different ages. Kids ready to learn an instrument might move on to Hoffman Academy around ages 6 to 8. Browse more early learning programs.
Pricing at a glance
There's no national price. Each local center sets its own tuition and session length, so use the Class Locator to find yours and ask for current rates. The free Hello Everybody app has 12 songs to try first.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Sometimes. A few ESA and enrichment programs cover classes from local providers. Because each center is its own business, it depends on whether your center can invoice your program or register as a vendor. Each program decides. Check your state, such as Arizona or Florida, or start at our scholarships hub. Save Music Together to your wishlist and apply once on Edulist.
