Noeo Science
A living-books homeschool science curriculum for grades 1–8: eight 36-week courses in biology, chemistry and physics, each boxed with real nonfiction books, a custom experiment kit, a lab manual and a four-day-a-week instructor's guide.
What is Noeo Science?
Noeo Science is a homeschool science curriculum for grades 1 through 8, written by Dr. Randy Pritchard. Instead of a textbook, each course uses a stack of well-illustrated nonfiction books, the kind Charlotte Mason families call living books, plus a custom kit for hands-on experiments.
There are eight courses across three levels, covering biology, chemistry and physics. Geology, weather and astronomy are woven into those three subjects.
How it works
Each course is a 36-week box with four parts: an instructor's guide with weekly charts and answers, a student lab manual, the books, and an experiment kit. A typical week has four short lessons:
- Read the assigned pages together or independently.
- Narrate, draw or write about what was learned in the lab manual.
- About every other week, do an experiment from the kit.
- Record observations and data.
At Level 1, the parent reads aloud and guides, so expect real involvement. By Level 3, students work much more on their own. Lessons can be combined into two longer sessions if that suits your week.
What it covers
| Level | Grades | Courses | Lesson length |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1–3 | Biology 1, Chemistry 1, Physics 1 | 15–20 min |
| 2 | 4–6 | Biology 2, Chemistry 2, Physics 2 | 20–30 min |
| 3 | 7–8 | Chemistry 3, Physics 3 | 30–40 min |
Kits stand out: Biology 2 includes a pocket microscope and 48 prepared slides, Chemistry 3 has over 250 experiments, and Physics 3 includes a build-project workshop and Snap Circuits.
Who it's best for
Noeo is a natural fit for Charlotte Mason and classical families, and for any parent who wants science fully planned and supplied. It also works for siblings near the same level.
It's less ideal if you want a textbook with tests, or need middle school biology or Earth science, which Noeo doesn't offer. See other homeschool science options to fill those gaps.
Pricing at a glance
As of October 2026, complete packages cost about $203 to $274 on sale, with free US shipping over $200. That covers a full year, including books you keep. A 60-day guarantee lets you return a used box for a full refund, and newsletter sign-ups get $15 off a first order.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Homeschool curriculum is commonly an allowable ESA expense in states like Arizona and Florida, and Noeo's charter editions exist for programs that require secular materials. Each program decides what it covers. Learn how scholarships and ESAs for homeschool families work, save Noeo to your wishlist, and apply once on Edulist.
How it compares
Real Science Odyssey is the closest secular rival, with more labs and a workbook format. Elemental Science offers a classical, lower-cost plan. Apologia and Berean Builders are Christian alternatives that use one main book instead of a library. For a lighter video-based option, see Mystery Science.

A summary of public parent feedback we read on forums, app stores and review sites. It is not a set of Edulist family reviews.
Reviewers praise Noeo for pairing living books with hands-on kits, with Cathy Duffy calling it one of the best jobs yet at that combination and naming it a Top Pick. The cautions are heavy parent involvement at Level 1, a narrower topic list per course, and secular books that some Christian families want to discuss.
Common praise
- Living books plus hands-on work instead of a textbook
- Everything supplied and scheduled
- Builds a strong home science library
Common complaints
- Level 1 needs considerable parent time
- Each course covers a small number of topics
- No Biology 3 course

Noeo Science FAQs
Is Noeo Science Christian or secular?
The regular editions' instructor's guides take a Christian perspective, with occasional scripture. The living books themselves are secular. Charter editions remove the Christian content and cost the same.
What grades does Noeo Science cover?
Level 1 covers grades 1–3, Level 2 covers grades 4–6, and Level 3 covers grades 7–8. You don't have to start at Level 1 or take courses in a set order.
How much does Noeo Science cost?
As of October 2026, complete packages cost about $203 to $274 on sale, or about $214 to $298 at list. Each package covers a full 36-week year and ships free in the US.
How long are Noeo lessons?
Lessons run four days a week: about 15–20 minutes at Level 1, 20–30 minutes at Level 2 and 30–40 minutes at Level 3. You can combine them into two longer sessions.
Can I return Noeo if it doesn't work for us?
Yes. Noeo's 60-day All Yours Guarantee lets you use the box and still return it for a full refund.
Does Noeo have a Biology 3 course?
No. Noeo says it has no plans to create one and points families to a high school biology course from its sister company instead.
Can siblings share a Noeo course?
Yes. Siblings at or near the same level can work together, and the order within a level doesn't matter much. You may want an extra lab manual for each child.
