Dimensions Math
Dimensions Math is Singapore Math Inc.'s own Singapore-method curriculum for pre-K through grade 8, with fuller lesson guidance than Primary Mathematics, hands-on activities, optional video lessons and a 6–8 series that covers pre-algebra and Algebra 1.
What is Dimensions Math?
Dimensions Math is a math curriculum written, designed and published by Singapore Math Inc., the company best known for selling Primary Mathematics in the U.S. It teaches the Singapore method: children work with real objects, then pictures, then numbers, with lots of mental math and word problems. The difference is support. Dimensions Math gives the teacher fuller lesson presentations, more activities and a series that runs from pre-K through 8th grade.
How it works
Each grade is split into two halves, A and B. For each half you use a textbook, a workbook and a guide. Optional test books are available for grades 1–5.
Lessons start from the guide. Homeschoolers usually pick the Home Instructor's Guide, which is written for one-on-one teaching, tells you which workbook pages to assign, and puts answers beside each lesson. You introduce the idea with manipulatives, work through the textbook together, then your child practices in the workbook.
Expect to teach. Pre-K and K are fully parent-led. From grade 1, more of the teaching is in the textbook, and by grades 4 and 5, students do some work on their own. Optional video lessons for grades 1–6 break each lesson into short parts, so students can rewatch just what they need.
The publisher's website hosts the printables, manipulative lists and song videos the guides refer to.

Who it's best for
Dimensions Math fits parents who want Singapore-style rigor but would like more help planning each lesson, and families who want one series from preschool to Algebra 1. Reviewers note it works especially well for small groups and co-ops.
It is less suited to children who need a gentle pace, or families who want a self-teaching program.
Pricing at a glance
Grade 1–5 sets cost $152 with Teacher's Guides or $169 with Home Instructor's Guides. The K set is $137.50, Grade 6 is $166, and Grades 7 and 8 are $190.40 each. Individual books start at $14.50, and video lessons are $85 a year per grade. Orders of $100 or more ship free in the contiguous U.S.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Often, yes. Print curriculum is commonly allowed in programs such as the Arizona ESA and Florida's scholarships, though each program decides. Save Dimensions Math to your wishlist, then check scholarships in your state and apply once on Edulist.

Dimensions Math FAQs
What is the difference between Dimensions Math and Singapore Primary Mathematics?
Both come from Singapore Math Inc. and teach the Singapore method. Dimensions Math was written for U.S. teachers and students, with fuller lesson presentations, more optional activities and levels from pre-K through grade 8. Primary Mathematics has sparser guidance, which some parents prefer.
Do I need the Home Instructor's Guide?
Homeschoolers usually choose it over the Teacher's Guide. It is written for one-on-one teaching, tells you which workbook pages to use, and puts answers next to each lesson. It costs $22.50 per half-year versus $32.50 for the Teacher's Guide.
What grades does Dimensions Math cover?
Pre-K through grade 8. Grades 7 and 8 together cover Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 plus some geometry, and the publisher's programs stop after grade 8.
Are the Dimensions Math videos worth it?
They are optional. Video subscriptions cover grades 1–6, last a year at $85 per grade, and don't replace the books or guides. They help when a parent wants backup or a student wants to rewatch part of a lesson.
Is Dimensions Math Christian or secular?
Secular. Cathy Duffy describes it as secular but Christian friendly.
Is Dimensions Math Common Core aligned?
The publisher says it is not aligned to Common Core, but it covers the standards in its own sequence.
Can an ESA pay for Dimensions Math?
Often, because it is standard curriculum. Each program decides what qualifies. Save it to an Edulist wishlist and apply once to scholarships in your state.
