All About Reading placement test
A free two-part test. The student reads story excerpts while an adult rates fluency and comprehension, then takes a skills check for the identified level. Level numbers don't match grade levels, so place by the test, not age.
Official All About Reading placement test ↗Which All About Reading level is right for my child?
All About Reading is built for parents teaching children to read at home, from pre-readers (preschool and kindergarten) through older kids, teens and adults who need to fill phonics gaps. Placement is by skill, not grade (ages 4+ (preschool through adult, placed by skill)). Levels are placed by skill, so a level can sit above or below your child’s school grade. When in doubt, start one level lower: early success keeps kids going.
Time per day: About 20 minutes of lessons, plus 20 minutes of reading aloud
