Piano Marvel
Piano learning software created by piano teachers, with method lessons, 25,000+ songs and exercises, instant scoring and the SASR sight-reading test. Works best with a MIDI keyboard. Free plan; Premium is $17.99/month or $129.99/year.
What is Piano Marvel?
Piano Marvel is piano learning software from Piano Marvel LLC, created by professional piano teachers. It pairs a step-by-step method with a large library of songs and exercises, and it scores what you play. University faculty and private teachers use it for group classes and practice between lessons.
Its signature tool is the SASR, the Standard Assessment of Sight-Reading. It tests how well you read new music and trains the skill over time.
How it works
You connect a digital piano or keyboard to a tablet or computer by MIDI, then choose a lesson or song:
- Practice Mode waits for you to play the right notes, so you can learn at your own speed.
- Play Mode plays at tempo and gives a score with detailed feedback.
- Video lessons sit below song titles to explain new skills.
- SASR gives a sight-reading score and a chart of your progress.
Most students practice 15 to 30 minutes a day. Older kids and adults can work alone. Younger children usually need a parent for setup and encouragement.
What it covers
Premium includes 25,000+ songs and exercises, 1,200+ method exercises and 200+ video lessons. Songs are graded by level, with recent additions labeled from Level 1 to Level 9, and include titles from Hal Leonard, Alfred and FJH. The method covers note reading, rhythm, technique, scales and sight reading.
Who it's best for
Piano Marvel fits students who want to read music well and families who want a structured homeschool piano curriculum. It's also great for kids already taking lessons. It's a weaker fit for families with only an acoustic piano or very young kids who want something playful, like Simply Piano. Browse more arts and music programs.
Pricing at a glance
As of October 2026, the free plan includes 150+ songs and 25 video lessons. Premium is $17.99 a month or $129.99 a year. Budget for a MIDI keyboard and cable if you don't have one.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Piano Marvel publishes purchasing steps for ESA, scholarship and grant programs in many states. Families buy through marketplaces in Arizona, Louisiana, Texas, Utah and Wyoming, send invoices in Arkansas and Idaho, or claim reimbursement in Florida, Kansas and West Virginia. Each program decides what qualifies. See Arizona, Texas or Utah, or start at our scholarships hub. Save Piano Marvel to your wishlist and apply once on Edulist.
