ReadingIQ
A digital library of 1,000+ children's books from Age of Learning, the maker of ABCmouse, organized by reading stage from read-aloud books for babies to chapter books and graphic novels for independent readers, plus Spanish titles.
What is ReadingIQ?
ReadingIQ is a digital library of more than 1,000 children's books from Age of Learning, the company behind ABCmouse. Reading experts select the titles, which range from picture books and wordless stories to graphic novels, chapter books and nonfiction. There is also a Spanish collection.
The core idea is simple: give kids a big, safe library they can open on any device, sorted by reading stage so they find books at the right level.
How it works
You create a family account and add up to three children. Each child browses books for their stage, or a parent picks titles together with them. Many books for younger kids have professional voice-over, so pre-readers can listen while they look.
A typical day might be:
- A toddler listens to a voiced picture book with a parent.
- A kindergartner reads a simple book, then listens to a longer one.
- An older child picks a chapter book or a science title for independent reading.
ReadingIQ runs on computers, tablets and smartphones.
What it covers
| Collection | Ages | What's inside |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-readers | Under 2 | Voiced read-alouds with simple pictures |
| Emerging readers | 2–4 | Alphabet, rhyming and simple nonfiction books |
| Growing readers | 5–8 | Fiction and nonfiction on many topics |
| Independent readers | 9–10 | Chapter books, graphic novels, biographies |
| Spanish readers | 2–10 | Bilingual picture books to Spanish chapter books |
Topics include earth and space science, biology, math concepts, mythology, biographies, historical fiction, jokes and how-to books.
Who it's best for
ReadingIQ fits families who want a large, low-cost ebook library for young kids, especially toddlers and early elementary readers who love read-alouds. Bilingual families get a solid Spanish shelf too.
It does not teach reading step by step. If your child is still learning to decode, pair ReadingIQ with a phonics program from our phonics programs page, and use the library for practice and fun.
Pricing at a glance
As of October 2026, ReadingIQ costs $7.99 a month after a free first month. You can cancel from the Parent Section before renewal. Teachers at schools and licensed programs can get a free Teacher Account.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Maybe. Some programs, like Arizona's ESA, allow supplementary materials, but a book library subscription may not qualify everywhere. Check your own program's rules on our scholarships overview. You can save ReadingIQ to your wishlist and apply once on Edulist.
