Science4Us

An online K–2 science program from ExploreLearning with 28 modules across physical, life, Earth and space, and inquiry science, mixing interactive lessons, songs and offline hands-on activities with early literacy and math.

What is Science4Us?

Science4Us is an online science program built for the youngest students: kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. It is now part of ExploreLearning, the company behind Gizmos and Reflex. The idea is to give little kids real science early, while also practicing the reading and math skills they are learning at the same time.

Lessons mix animated videos, songs, games and simple experiments. Many activities can be done in about 10 minutes, which suits short attention spans.

How it works

The curriculum is split into 28 modules, and each one follows the 5E model:

  1. Engage with a song, video or question.
  2. Explore through an interactive activity or a hands-on project.
  3. Explain the idea with a short lesson.
  4. Elaborate by applying it in a new way.
  5. Evaluate with a quick check.

A module is meant to take about eight sessions. Parents or teachers use a dashboard to assign lessons, see lesson plans and track progress. Young kids still need an adult nearby to read directions and run the offline activities.

What it covers

The 28 modules are spread across four strands: physical science, life science, Earth and space science, and inquiry science, the skills of observing, questioning and recording results. Together they include more than 350 interactive online activities and many more offline hands-on activities.

The content is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards for K–2. There is nothing new past 2nd grade.

Who it's best for

Science4Us fits kindergarten to 2nd graders who enjoy interactive screen lessons, and families who like that it reinforces early literacy. It's also a good match if you already use Time4Learning, which has used Science4Us for its early-grade science.

Pricing at a glance

As of October 2026, ExploreLearning sells Science4Us to schools by quote and offers a free 30-day trial. It does not publish a homeschool price. Older reviews mention a $7.95 monthly home plan, but you should not count on finding it today.

Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?

Online K–2 curriculum is commonly an allowable expense in ESA programs, but because Science4Us is sold mainly to schools, families usually pay for access through a program like Time4Learning. Check your state's rules on our scholarships and ESAs guide, for example Arizona or Utah. Save the programs you like to your wishlist and apply once on Edulist.

How it compares

Mystery Science is easier to buy as a homeschooler and has more hands-on investigation for K–5. Generation Genius covers K–8 with videos and lesson plans. For broader early learning with some science built in, look at Khan Academy Kids, which is free, or PBS Kids.
