Cursive writing gets easier when practice climbs one small step at a time. This sheet starts with two-letter joins (it, we), adds a three-letter word (let) and a word with double letters and loops (little), and ends with a short sentence that has a capital and spaces (The sun is up). Each line gets the classic four rows: trace with a model, write from start dots, copy beside a model, then write on your own.

Change the words in the box to anything your child is learning: spelling words, names, or a line from a favorite book. Cursive here uses letters only, so punctuation is skipped. Medium lines fit 2nd to 4th grade; small lines suit older kids and adults. For a printable that covers every letter, start with the cursive alphabet.

Tips for using it

  • Ten minutes a day beats an hour on Saturday. One page per session is enough.
  • Watch the joins after b, o, v and w: they leave from the midline, so the next letter hangs from a bridge instead of scooping up from the baseline.

Questions

How do I make my own cursive practice sheets?

Type one word or sentence per line in the generator above. The preview updates as you type, and you can print or download a PDF. The cursive worksheet generator in Free tools does the same, with more modes.

Should cursive practice be done every day?

Short daily practice works best for motor skills. Most handwriting programs plan about 10 to 15 minutes a day, which is roughly one of these pages.
