How to write a lowercase e in cursive: Undercurve from the baseline up to the midline, loop back to the left, and come down around to the baseline. Finish with an exit stroke up to the right.
This sheet starts with large models of capital E and lowercase e, with a green start dot, numbered strokes, and arrows that show which way the pencil travels. Then come two rows for each form: trace, then write from the start dots. Page two joins e into the words "egg" and "elf" and the sentence "Ella eats eggs", so your child practices the capital and the lowercase joins in real writing.
Cursive e is one of the loop letters (e, l, h, k, b, f), which begin with an undercurve and loop back at the top. When e feels easy, practice l, h, k, b next, or print the full cursive alphabet chart.
Tips for using it
- Making the loop too tall turns e into an l, and leaving out the loop turns it into an i with no dot. The loop should reach the midline and no higher.
- Say the strokes out loud while writing e, for example: "scoop up, loop back, pull down". Saying it keeps the shape consistent from row to row.

Questions
How do you write a capital E in cursive?
Capital E starts just below the top line with a small curve like a backward c, makes a little loop at the middle, then a larger curve around to the baseline before it exits. The model at the top of the sheet numbers each stroke, so your child can see where to lift the pencil.
How does cursive e connect to the next letter?
Because e starts with an undercurve, it joins from the baseline after most letters; after b, o, v and w it hangs from the midline bridge instead.
When should kids learn cursive e?
Most programs introduce cursive in 2nd or 3rd grade, once print letters are automatic. Cursive e is taught with the other loop letters (e, l, h, k, b, f), so it often comes right after the undercurve letters.
