How to write a lowercase h in cursive: Undercurve up to the top line, loop to the left, and pull straight down to the baseline. Retrace up a little, roll over a hump to the right and down to the baseline, then exit.
This sheet starts with large models of capital H and lowercase h, with a green start dot, numbered strokes, and arrows that show which way the pencil travels. Then come two rows for each form: trace, then write from the start dots. Page two joins h into the words "hat" and "hen" and the sentence "Hens sit on eggs", so your child practices the capital and the lowercase joins in real writing.
Cursive h is one of the loop letters (e, l, h, k, b, f), which begin with an undercurve and loop back at the top. When h feels easy, practice e, l, k, b next, or print the full cursive alphabet chart.
Tips for using it
- A hump that starts too low makes h look like an l joined to an n. Leave the stem from the same point you come back up.
- Say the strokes out loud while writing h, for example: "scoop up, loop back, pull down". Saying it keeps the shape consistent from row to row.

Questions
How do you write a capital H in cursive?
Capital H takes two strokes. First a small cap curve and the left stem down to the baseline. Then the right stem from the top line down, finishing with a loop across the middle that ends in the exit stroke. The model at the top of the sheet numbers each stroke, so your child can see where to lift the pencil.
How does cursive h connect to the next letter?
The hump ends on the baseline, so h joins the next letter with a normal undercurve.
When should kids learn cursive h?
Most programs introduce cursive in 2nd or 3rd grade, once print letters are automatic. Cursive h is taught with the other loop letters (e, l, h, k, b, f), so it often comes right after the undercurve letters.
