Bridgeway Academy

$8,245/yr

An accredited homeschool academy for PreK–12 that pairs families with an advisor and lets them mix textbook, self-paced online and live online courses from 40+ publishers. Full enrollment runs $8,245 to $12,125 a year, or families can buy single courses or accreditation only.

What is Bridgeway Academy?

Bridgeway Academy is an accredited homeschool academy for PreK through 12th grade, based in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, with more than 35 years in operation. It sits between a homeschool curriculum and an online school. Parents stay in charge of daily learning, while Bridgeway supplies an advisor, accredited records, transcripts and a diploma, plus optional live classes with certified teachers. It is accredited by Cognia and WASC. Its website is now homeschoolacademy.com.

How it works

Each family works with an advisor who acts as a homeschool coach rather than a grader. The advisor helps plan courses, approves curriculum, sets pacing, tracks graduation and state requirements, and reviews a portfolio of student work each quarter. Families check in monthly and quarterly.

You choose how each subject is taught. Options include textbooks, self-paced online courses and live online classes, drawn from more than 40 publishers and providers. Live teachers grade the courses they teach, and parents may grade parent-led courses. That flexibility means parents carry more of the load than in a full online school.

Who it's best for

Bridgeway fits homeschoolers who want the paper trail of a school, such as transcripts, a diploma and NCAA documentation, without a fixed curriculum. Academy Nobilis is a standout for students with ADHD, dyslexia, autism or other learning differences, and for gifted and twice-exceptional kids. It is not ideal for families who want a hands-off school or a low price.

Pricing at a glance

Full enrollment runs $8,245 to $12,125 a year, or about $709 to $1,042 a month over 12 payments, with a lifetime price lock. Bridgeway says there are no separate registration, technology or curriculum fees. The Nobilis page also says it starts at $12,500, so confirm the current rate with admissions.

Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?

Private homeschool academy tuition, courses and accreditation services may be allowable in some education savings account programs and scholarships for homeschoolers, but each program decides which vendors qualify. Families of students with disabilities should also check their state's special needs programs. Save Bridgeway to your wishlist and apply once on Edulist to the programs that match your family.

How it compares

Liberty University Online Academy and Acellus Academy cost much less and handle more of the teaching, but offer less curriculum choice. Laurel Springs is a self-paced private school with deep AP options. Seton Home Study School is an accredited Catholic homeschool program with a set curriculum.
