Liberty University Online Academy
Liberty University's accredited online Christian school for grades K–12. Families pay $549 per full-year course, students work at their own pace within the school year with Christian teachers, and high schoolers can earn college credit through dual enrollment.
What is Liberty University Online Academy?
Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA) is the K–12 online school of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. It opened in 2007 and calls itself an accredited online Christian school with a Bible-based education. Students can enroll full time or take single courses, and high schoolers can earn college credit through Liberty dual enrollment.
LUOA holds accreditation from Cognia through its SACS CASI division and from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and its courses are approved by the NCAA.
How it works
Courses are online and self-paced within a 41-week school year, so students can work ahead or slow down as long as they finish in the window. Christian teachers grade work, answer questions and track progress. Parents stay involved by checking pacing and helping younger children, but they do not need to plan lessons.
Because LUOA is a private school, it keeps the transcript and issues the diploma. Graduates may qualify for a 50% Liberty University residential scholarship or a 15% Liberty University Online tuition discount.
What it covers
| Stage | Typical full-time load | Estimated 2026–27 tuition |
|---|---|---|
| Kindergarten | 4 courses | $2,196 |
| Elementary (1–5) | 5 courses | $2,745 |
| Middle school (6–8) | 5 courses | $2,745 |
| High school (9–12) | 6.5 credits on average | $3,568.50 |
Students cover core subjects and electives taught from a biblical worldview. High school students can add enhanced courses, clubs and dual enrollment.
Who it's best for
LUOA fits Christian families who want an accredited diploma, teacher grading and flexible pacing without paying elite private school tuition. It is also a low-risk way to test online school, thanks to the 30-day trial and per-course pricing. Secular families, or students who need daily live classes, should look elsewhere.
Pricing at a glance
Each full-year course is $549, at every grade. Add a $75 technology fee each year and optional costs like lab kits ($100 to $140) and clubs ($50). A 10-month payment plan costs $50. Discounts of 10% apply for early enrollment by August 31, families with three or more full-time children, and military, ministry or emergency-responder families. All fees are non-refundable.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
LUOA says it accepts ESA funds through ClassWallet, which several states use to pay vendors. Programs such as Arizona's ESA may cover accredited private online school tuition, but each program decides.
