Every new student takes the Kumon Placement Test at a center with the Instructor watching. The Instructor notes score, speed, concentration and handwriting, then sets a starting level that is deliberately easy so the child begins with success.
Official Kumon placement test ↗Kumon is built for families of preschoolers through high schoolers who want steady daily practice in math or reading, and who can keep a child on a 30-minute-a-day homework routine (preschool through high school). Levels are placed by skill, so a level can sit above or below your child’s school grade. When in doubt, start one level lower: early success keeps kids going.
Time per day: About 30 minutes per subject, every day
