The 11 states of the West region, from Montana and Colorado to the Pacific coast, with Alaska and Hawaii in their usual boxes at the lower left (not to scale). Children write each name from the word bank, and the labeled answer key is on page two.
Practice with the West region states and capitals quiz first. Colorado, Wyoming and Utah are almost rectangles, which makes them good starting points.
Tips for using it
- Remind children that Alaska is really the largest state, even though its box looks small.
- Trace the Pacific coast first: Washington, Oregon and California.
