A five-page preschool worksheet pack for ages 3 to 5: trace pre-writing lines (straight, tall, slanted, zigzag, waves and loops), count pictures and circle the number, trace the letters A, B and C, trace numbers with counting dots, and trace six shapes. Every page uses big print, thick dotted lines and green start dots so little hands know where to begin.

Preschool worksheets work best in short bursts of five to ten minutes, with chunky crayons and lots of praise. Pre-writing strokes come first because they build the hand control needed for letters. Press New problems for different counting rows, or switch on a theme for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or winter pictures. For more practice in one skill, try preschool letter tracing, name tracing, number tracing 1–10 and preschool sight words. Ready for more? See the kindergarten worksheet pack.

Tips for using it

  • Do one page a day. Stop while it's still fun.
  • Use chunky crayons or golf pencils for a better grip.
  • Slip pages into a sheet protector and use a dry-erase marker for endless reuse.

Questions

What should preschoolers learn on worksheets?

Fine-motor control (tracing lines and shapes), letter and number recognition, counting small groups, and following simple directions. Worksheets should be a small part of the day next to play, read-alouds and hands-on activities.

At what age can kids start worksheets?

Many children enjoy simple tracing and coloring pages around age 3 or 4, once they can hold a crayon and sit for a few minutes. Follow your child's interest rather than an age rule.
