Abeka

$433.95

Traditional Christian curriculum from preschool through 12th grade, sold as parent-led book kits or as Abeka Academy video lessons taught by classroom teachers. The video program has an accredited option with report cards, transcripts and a diploma.

What is Abeka?

Abeka is a Christian curriculum publisher based in Pensacola, Florida, connected to Pensacola Christian College. It has published textbooks since 1972 for Christian schools and homeschools. For homeschool families it offers two paths: parent-led book kits, and Abeka Academy, where recorded classroom teachers teach every lesson on video.

How it works

With parent-led kits, you buy a child kit with the student books and a parent kit with lesson plans, answer keys and teaching aids. The plans lay out 170 days, so you open the book and follow the day.

With Abeka Academy, your child watches a real classroom lesson by streaming or DVD, then does the seatwork. Streaming gives 12 months to finish 170 lessons. You pick the accredited option, where you grade work and mail it to Abeka every 6–9 weeks, or the unaccredited option, where you keep your own records.

Expect a full day. Families commonly report three to four hours of video and seatwork in elementary, and more in upper grades. Abeka leans on drills, quizzes and tests.

What it covers

StageWhat you get
Ages 2–3 and K4Early learning; K4 video is unaccredited only
K5Phonics, reading, writing, arithmetic
Grades 1–6All core subjects plus Bible, penmanship and spelling
Grades 7–8Six-course video year; extra courses cost more
Grades 9–12Full-year, single-course and semester options, with an accredited diploma

Who it's best for

Abeka fits families who want a traditional Christian school at home, children who thrive on routine, and teens who need an accredited diploma. Its phonics program is a favorite even among families who switch other subjects to BJU Press.

It is a poor fit if you want secular materials, short school days, or a hands-on, literature-led style. The worldview is strongly fundamentalist, with the King James Version and young-earth creation built into every subject.

Abeka pricing at a glance

As of October 2026, Abeka Academy video and books for grades 1–6 cost $148.40 a month accredited over 10 payments, and high school runs up to $188.40 a month. Parent-led kits cost less but still add up: a Grade 1 parent kit lists between about $434 and $741 before the child kit. As of October 2026, Abeka's official discounts page lists fall promotions for Academy enrollment that expire Nov 13, 2026.

Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?

Often, yes. Programs like Arizona ESA and Florida scholarships commonly allow curriculum, and some cover accredited distance programs. Each program decides and may require purchases through its own marketplace. Save Abeka to your wishlist and check scholarships for your state to apply once through Edulist.

Abeka FAQs

Is Abeka accredited?

Only the Abeka Academy accredited video program is. It is accredited by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS) and the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. Parent-led kits and the unaccredited video option do not lead to an Abeka diploma.

What is the difference between accredited and unaccredited Abeka Academy?

With the accredited option, parents grade the work and mail it to Abeka every 6–9 weeks for review, and Abeka issues report cards, transcripts and a diploma. With the unaccredited option, you keep your own records and there is no high school diploma. The accredited option costs a few dollars more per month.

Is there an Abeka promo code?

Abeka publishes its current offers on its official discounts page. As of October 2026 that page lists ENROLL26 for 15% off Abeka Academy enrollments and MATH26 for 15% off math video lessons (both expire Nov 13, 2026), plus a 5% military discount. Codes from other sites may not work.

Does Abeka have a free trial?

No. Abeka offers free sample video lessons and a 30-day money-back guarantee on video enrollments instead. You must return all video materials within 30 days of your start date to get a full refund.

How do I cancel Abeka Academy?

Call Abeka at 1-877-223-5226 and return all video materials. Cancelling within 30 days gets a full refund; after that a 10% fee applies through day 60 and 25% through day 90, with no credit after 90 days.

Where do I log in to Abeka Academy?

Video students and parents sign in through the Abeka website, where streaming lessons and account tools live. If you bought kits only, you do not need an Academy login.

Can an ESA pay for Abeka?

Often, when the program allows curriculum or distance-learning tuition. Rules differ by state and some programs buy only through a marketplace, so confirm with your program before ordering.
