Monarch

$43.95/mo

What is Monarch homeschool?

Monarch is an online Christian homeschool curriculum from Alpha Omega Publications, the publisher behind LIFEPAC worktexts and Switched-On Schoolhouse. It covers grades 3 through 12 and runs in a web browser. One Full Access subscription unlocks about 50 core courses and about 60 electives for a student.

AOP relaunched Monarch on a new platform in 2026. Courses assigned before January 14, 2026 stay on Monarch Classic.

How it works

Parents set up each student, pick courses and set the school calendar. Monarch then builds a schedule. Students log in each day and work through lessons that are mostly text, with short videos, audio and interactive pieces. Quizzes and tests are graded automatically, which covers more than 85% of the grading. Parents grade essays and projects and can adjust grading weights or skip lessons.

The parent dashboard shows progress, sends notifications and produces reports. Reader and highlighting tools help students who struggle with long passages.

Who it's best for

Monarch suits Christian families with upper-elementary, middle or high school students who are ready to work on screen with light supervision. It is a common choice for working parents who want grading off their plate.

It is a weaker fit for younger children, hands-on learners and families trying to limit screens. Parents who need an accredited diploma will need a separate school, since Monarch itself is not accredited.

Pricing at a glance

As of October 2026, Full Access is $43.95 a month or $439.95 a year per student. A single course is $10.95 a month or $109.95 a year. A 30-day free trial includes everything. Yearly plans are refundable for 30 days; monthly payments are not.

Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?

AOP says it accepts ESA funds for Monarch. Programs such as Arizona ESA, Florida scholarships and Texas Education Freedom Accounts set their own rules on online subscriptions, so check before you buy. Save Monarch to your wishlist and apply once through Edulist scholarships.

How it compares

Switched-On Schoolhouse is the computer-based program Monarch grew out of, and Alpha Omega LIFEPAC is the print version. BJU Press Homeschool costs more but adds video teachers. All three come from Alpha Omega Publications.
