Varsity Tutors Pricing (2026): Plans, Cost and Free Trial

Varsity Tutors plans and prices

Varsity Tutors does not post prices on its site. You answer a few questions or call, and an education consultant recommends a plan and quotes a price based on your goals, subject and number of hours. Public reviews mention rates around $100 an hour and monthly charges of several hundred dollars, but your quote may differ. Ask for the hourly rate, billing schedule and renewal terms in writing before you pay.

Per-month prices divide yearly plans by 12. Prices from the provider, checked 2026-10-13; confirm on the official Varsity Tutors site.

Varsity Tutors free trial, discounts and cancellation

Free trial

No standard free trial. The Tutor Satisfaction Guarantee makes your next session free (up to two hours) if you aren't satisfied with your first tutor.

Free version

Free practice tests, flashcards and other study tools are on the site without a tutoring plan.

Discounts

• Tutor Satisfaction Guarantee: If you're unhappy after your first session, Varsity Tutors will match you with a new tutor and make the next session free, up to two hours.
• Pass Guarantee: For professional certification exams only: with at least 12 live tutoring hours and other conditions, you can get a free credit or full refund if you don't pass.

How to cancel

Plans are set up with a consultant, often by phone. Public reviews say some customers could not cancel inside the account and had to call. Call Varsity Tutors at the number on its site, ask that billing stop, and get written confirmation.

Refunds

Except as required by law or a stated guarantee, Varsity Tutors' terms say fees are nonrefundable. The satisfaction guarantee offers a free replacement session, not cash back.

Extra costs

None listed beyond the plan; standardized test registration fees are separate.

We list only discounts the provider publishes. We never post coupon codes we can’t verify.

Is Varsity Tutors worth the money?

Varsity Tutors makes it easy to get a qualified tutor for almost any subject quickly, and its platform and session recordings are genuinely useful. The downsides are opaque pricing and billing that can keep running if you don't cancel carefully. Get the quote in writing, set a calendar reminder for renewal, and compare the hourly rate against a marketplace like Wyzant.
