This worksheet is a 12 × 12 multiplication chart with about 40% of the squares left blank. It sits between a full reference chart and a completely blank one: there are enough answers on the page for kids to use patterns (what is above, below and across the diagonal), but they still have to recall or work out every missing fact.
Each click of New problems hides a different set of squares, so you can print a fresh sheet every day. Raise the blank share as your child gets faster; at 90% it is nearly a blank chart. The answer key shows the missing answers in red.
Tips for using it
- Ask your child to explain one missing square using a neighbor, like 'it's 7 × 6, and 7 × 5 is 35, so 35 + 7 = 42.'
- Start at 20–30% blank for a confidence boost, then raise it each week.

Is a fill-in chart better than flash cards?
They practice different things. A fill-in chart builds pattern sense and strategies. Flash cards build quick recall. Most kids benefit from both.
Can I choose which squares are blank?
Squares are chosen at random. Use New problems to get a different mix, or highlight one times table to focus practice on that row and column.
