A multiplication table (also called a times table grid or multiplication square) lists the products of two numbers in rows and columns. This printable version covers 1 to 10 with the square numbers highlighted in yellow, which shows one of the table's most useful features: it is symmetrical. Every fact above the yellow diagonal appears again below it.

That symmetry is a big relief for kids. The 90 squares off the diagonal form 45 turnaround pairs, so a child who knows 3 × 7 already knows 7 × 3. Have your child color the facts they know, then use the times table pages to practice the rest one table at a time.

Tips for using it

  • Count the squares above the diagonal with your child. Learning those 45 facts plus the 10 squares covers the whole table.
  • Use the 'One table' highlight to shade the table your child is practicing this week.

Questions

What is the difference between a multiplication table and a multiplication chart?

Nothing important. Both names describe the same grid. Some people use 'times table' for a single list like the 7 times table, and 'multiplication table' or 'chart' for the whole grid.

What are square numbers on a multiplication table?

They are products of a number times itself, like 4 × 4 = 16. They run along the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right.
