A blank animal cell with an empty box at the end of every leader line and a word bank of the 15 parts underneath. Students write each organelle's name in its box, from the cell membrane on the outside to the nucleolus in the middle. The answer key on page two shows every label in red, so it works for self-checking or grading.

Warm up with the label quiz in the interactive animal cell, where each part explains itself at a kid, middle school or high school level. For a harder version without a word bank, print the numbered animal cell sheet.

Tips for using it

  • Fill in the three big parts first (cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus), then the organelles that make proteins, then the rest.
  • After labeling, have students write one job beside five of the parts.

Questions

What are the 15 words in the word bank?

Cell membrane, centrioles, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, Golgi apparatus, lysosome, mitochondrion, nuclear envelope, nucleolus, nucleus, peroxisome, ribosomes, rough ER, smooth ER and vesicle.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. The second page is the labeled diagram with the answers in red. Turn the answer key off to print only the worksheet.
