These are the times tables from 1 to 10, each written out as a list of facts. Ten tables to × 10 is the core set: it covers every fact the Common Core standards expect kids to know by the end of 3rd grade, plus the 10s. Each table also has its own practice page (linked below) with the full list, a skip-counting strip, a mixed-order practice column and a pattern to notice.

A simple plan is one table per week. Read it aloud on Monday, do the practice page midweek, and quiz with flash cards on Friday. Start with the 2s, 5s and 10s, then the 3s, 4s and 9s, and save the 6s, 7s and 8s for last.

Tips for using it

  • Teach the 9s finger trick: hold up ten fingers, fold down the one you're multiplying by, and read the tens and ones on either side.
  • Use skip counting as the bridge: a child who can count by 4s can find any 4s fact.

Questions

What is the easiest way to learn times tables?

Go one table at a time, starting with the easiest (2s, 5s, 10s). Look for patterns, say the facts aloud, and practice a little every day. Short daily practice beats long weekly sessions.

When should kids know their times tables?

Under the Common Core standards, students should know all products of two one-digit numbers from memory by the end of 3rd grade. Many kids need extra practice into 4th grade, and that's normal.
