These phonics worksheets follow the order most structured-literacy programs teach: short-vowel CVC words first, then digraphs (sh, ch, th), FLOSS doubles and blends, then silent e, and finally vowel teams and r-controlled vowels. Pick the pattern your child is working on and one of ten activities, and the sheet fills with real, decodable words for that pattern.

The sheet shown is sound boxes with CVC words: your child reads each word, touches a dot for each sound, and writes one sound per box. That builds segmenting, the skill behind spelling. Switch the activity for tracing, missing letters, sorts, word ladders, rhyme matching, decodable sentences, a dictation page, roll and read, or a plain word list.

Every sheet is picture-free so children decode instead of guessing, and every sheet with answers prints a key. Press New problems for a fresh set.

Tips for using it

  • Keep phonics practice short: 10 to 15 minutes a day is plenty for most five- to seven-year-olds.
  • Choose a pattern your child has been taught. Worksheets are for practice, not for introducing a new sound.
  • Have your child read the finished sheet aloud. Writing the right letters and reading the word are two different skills.
