Fusion Academy
An accredited private middle and high school where every class is one student and one teacher. Fusion runs 80+ campuses in about 20 states and D.C. plus a fully online school, Fusion Global Academy. Tuition is charged per class, per term, and often totals $40,000 to $75,000+ a year full time.
What is Fusion Academy?
Fusion Academy is a private middle and high school where every class has one student and one teacher. It is run by Fusion Education Group and, as of October 2026, lists 80+ campuses in about 20 states and Washington, D.C., plus a fully online school called Fusion Global Academy.
Fusion's pitch is simple: when a teacher works with only your child, lessons move at your child's pace, gaps get filled, and kids who were lost or anxious in a 30-student room can focus again.
How it works
Students take each class one-to-one, in person, online or in a hybrid mix. Full-time students carry 4 to 6 courses a term across three terms, typically 12–15 classes a year. Part-time students can take a single class for credit, such as a math course they need to retake, or book tutoring.
Between classes, students work in the Homework Café, a supervised space where assignments get done at school instead of at the kitchen table. Online students get a virtual version. Teachers send parents progress reports after sessions.
Enrollment is open all year, so students can start mid-semester. Fusion also offers Honors and AP courses, summer classes and college counseling.
What it covers
| Program | Grades | What students get |
|---|---|---|
| Full-time diploma | 6–12 (4–12 at some campuses) | All core subjects and electives, 1-to-1 |
| Classes for credit | 6–12 | Single courses that transfer to another school |
| Fusion Global Academy | 6–12 | The same 1-to-1 model fully online |
| Tutoring and mentoring | All | Session packs, in person or online |
Who it's best for
Fusion fits students who are capable but stuck: anxious kids, kids with ADHD or dyslexia, kids recovering from illness or a bad school experience, and gifted students bored by the pace of class. It also suits athletes and performers with odd schedules.
Look elsewhere if your child needs intensive special education or therapy services, wants a big peer group and team sports, or if your budget needs a fixed number. Reviews on Niche and Trustpilot are mostly glowing about teachers, while cost is the most common complaint. More detail is on the Fusion Academy reviews page.
Fusion Academy tuition at a glance
For 2026–27, a standard 1-to-1 high school class costs $3,495 per term online, $4,230 in Denver and $4,990 in Washington, D.C. Middle school, Honors and AP classes cost more; small-group classes cost less. At 12–15 classes a year, full-time 1-to-1 tuition usually runs from about $42,000 online to $75,000 or more on campus. See the full breakdown on the Fusion Academy pricing page.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Often, at least in part. Fusion lists specific campuses that take state programs in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, and its online school takes several more. Texas's official TEFA finder lists all eight Texas campuses. Typical awards cover only a slice of Fusion's price, and each program decides who qualifies. Start with Arizona ESA, Florida scholarships, Texas Education Freedom Accounts or North Carolina scholarships, and save Fusion to your wishlist while you compare options.
How it compares
Brightmont Academy uses the same one-to-one idea with a flat full-time price of about $31,000 to $36,000 a year, but it has fewer campuses. Laurel Springs and Bridgeway Academy are accredited online schools that cost far less but put more of the work on the student and parent. For a mastery-based school with a real peer group, compare Khan Lab School or Alpha School. If your child mainly needs a calm place to work with a coach, a KaiPod Learning pod is much cheaper.

Fusion Academy FAQs
How much does Fusion Academy cost per year?
Fusion charges per class, per term, not a flat yearly price. For 2026–27 a standard 1-to-1 high school class costs $3,495 per term online and $4,230 to $4,990 at the campuses we checked. Full-time students take 12–15 classes a year, so a full 1-to-1 load is roughly $42,000 online and $50,000 to $75,000 or more on campus, plus a registration fee.
Is Fusion Academy accredited?
Yes. Fusion campus pages say they are accredited by Cognia along with a regional partner, such as WASC in California and the Middle States Association in Maryland. Ask your campus which accreditor applies to its diploma.
Is Fusion Academy only for kids with learning disabilities?
No. Fusion markets to students with learning, social or emotional differences, including anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia, but also to gifted students, athletes, actors and international students. It is not a special education or therapeutic school, so students with intensive needs may need more support.
Does Fusion Academy have an online school?
Yes. Fusion Global Academy is a fully online version with live 1-to-1 classes and a virtual Homework Café. It is also the cheapest way to take Fusion classes, at $3,495 per high school class per term for 2026–27.
What grades does Fusion Academy serve?
Most campuses serve grades 6–12. Several campuses, including some in California and Texas, list grades 4–12.
Can I get a refund if Fusion isn't a fit?
New full-time students (4 or more classes) are covered by the Parent Promise. If you withdraw from all classes within 30 calendar days of the first class, Fusion refunds that term's tuition, except registration and activity fees. After that, the standard refund policy in the handbook applies.
Can an ESA or scholarship pay for Fusion Academy?
At many campuses, yes. Fusion lists state programs in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas for specific campuses, and several more states for its online school. Award amounts usually cover only part of Fusion tuition, and each program decides eligibility.
Is Fusion Academy worth it?
It depends on why your child needs it. Parents of anxious or overwhelmed kids often say it changed everything, while others feel the price is hard to justify. Set a clear goal, such as catching up on credits or rebuilding confidence, and review progress after the first term.
