KaiPod Learning

$950/mo

A microschool company that runs three in-person learning pods for grades 3–12 (Gilbert and Scottsdale, Arizona, and Winter Garden, Florida) and supports a network of 150+ independent microschools. At its own pods, students bring an online school or homeschool curriculum and work alongside learning coaches; 2026–27 pricing is $456 to $1,240 a month.

What is KaiPod Learning?

KaiPod Learning is a microschool company founded by Amar Kumar, a former teacher and principal. It does two things. It runs three in-person learning pods for grades 3–12, in Gilbert and Scottsdale, Arizona, and Winter Garden, Florida. And it helps educators open and run their own microschools through its Catalyst program and Partner Network, which it says includes 150+ founders in 30+ states.

The core idea at KaiPod's own pods is simple. Your child keeps an online school or homeschool curriculum as the academic backbone, then does that work in a small group with friends and a trained adult, instead of alone at the kitchen table.

How it works

Pods are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and families choose a 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-day plan. KaiPod calls its attendance open door: within your plan's days, your child can come for a full day or part of one.

Each pod caps at 24 students, with about 12 students per learning coach. Coaches keep kids on track, help them through tough spots, run enrichment and games, and handle social time. If your child is leaving a traditional school, KaiPod helps you pick a program, often a self-paced, mastery-based online school or a workbook-based homeschool curriculum. The pods also offer Zearn math, Lexia literacy and MAP Growth testing at no extra charge.

Parents choose and pay for the curriculum, and they stay responsible for homeschool or online-school requirements in their state.

Who it's best for

KaiPod fits kids who do fine with self-paced online work but struggle with isolation or motivation at home, and parents who work and can't supervise all day. It also suits Arizona ESA and Florida scholarship families who want to stretch funds across a curriculum and a learning space. Look elsewhere if you want a school that hires teachers to teach every subject directly, or if your child is younger than 3rd grade.

Independent reviews are thin. Positive feedback centers on friendships and accountability; the most common caution is that pod tuition plus an online school adds up.

Pricing at a glance

For 2026–27, five days a week costs $950 a month in Winter Garden, $1,060 in Gilbert and $1,240 in Scottsdale, paid in 10 installments. Two-day plans start at $456 a month. Paying by semester saves 5%, paying for the year saves 10%, and siblings get 10% to 20% off. There's a 30-day guarantee, then a one-semester commitment with no refunds for missed days.

Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?

KaiPod says its Arizona pods are approved ESA vendors that take ClassWallet payments, and its Florida pod accepts the PEP and FES-UA scholarships through Step Up For Students. Network microschools set their own policies. See Arizona ESA, the Florida PEP scholarship and what ESA funds can be used for. Each program decides. How it compares

Prenda also supports small K–8 microschools of about 5–10 students led by local guides, and supplies the learning software. Acton Academy and Primer are full private microschools that set the whole program themselves. If your child needs one-to-one teaching rather than coaching, compare Brightmont Academy or Fusion Academy, which cost far more.

Where are KaiPod locations?

KaiPod runs three pods itself: Gilbert and Scottsdale in Arizona, and Winter Garden in Florida. It also lists independent Partner Network microschools in 30+ states through its Find a Microschool directory.

Is KaiPod a school?

Not exactly. At KaiPod's pods, students are enrolled in an online school or homeschool program, and KaiPod provides the space, peers and learning coaches. High school diplomas come from the online school, not from KaiPod.

What curriculum does KaiPod use?

KaiPod is curriculum-agnostic. Families can bring an accredited online school or homeschool curriculum, or KaiPod helps build a self-paced plan. Its pods also offer Zearn, Lexia and MAP Growth testing at no extra cost.

Can I use an Arizona ESA or Step Up scholarship at KaiPod?

KaiPod says its Arizona pods accept ESA funds through ClassWallet and its Winter Garden pod accepts Florida's PEP and FES-UA scholarships through Step Up For Students. Each program decides what it will pay for.

What is KaiPod Catalyst?

Catalyst is KaiPod's program for educators who want to open their own microschool. It costs $149 a month during the 12-week Build phase, then $149 a month plus $30 per enrolled student after opening, with no revenue share.
