These division flash cards are the multiplication facts turned around: every card divides by a number from 1 to 12 and has a whole-number answer from 0 to 12. There are no remainders and no division by zero. That's 156 cards in all, twelve to a page, with answers on the back for double-sided printing.

The Common Core standards pair multiplication and division in 3rd grade, asking kids to fluently multiply and divide within 100 using the relationship between them. So teach division cards as "think multiplication": for 56 ÷ 8, ask what times 8 makes 56. Practice one divisor at a time with One number only, right after your child learns that times table.

Tips for using it

  • Practice the division cards for a table the same week as its multiplication cards.
  • Remind kids that ÷ 1 leaves the number the same, and a number divided by itself is 1.

Questions

Do these division cards have remainders?

No. Every card divides evenly. Each one is a multiplication fact in reverse.

Why isn't there a divide-by-0 card?

Division by zero isn't defined, so the deck leaves it out. Choosing The 0s prints every division fact instead.
