These subtraction flash cards are the addition facts run backward: every card takes away a number from 0 to 10 and has an answer from 0 to 10, so 15 − 7 and 9 − 4 are in the deck but no card ever has a negative answer. That's 121 cards, eight to a page, with answers on the back for double-sided printing.
Teach subtraction as "think addition." For 13 − 5, ask what plus 5 makes 13. Kids who know their addition facts can answer subtraction cards much faster this way than by counting back. Use One number only to print a single family, like all the −9 facts.
No. Every card is a sum minus one of its parts, so answers run from 0 to 10.
Set One number only to The 1s. You'll get 11 cards, from 1 − 1 to 11 − 1.
