A blank solar system diagram with an empty box beside each body and a word bank of all eleven names underneath: the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, the asteroid belt and the Kuiper Belt. Children copy each word into the right box, using the order of the orbits as their clue. The answer key on page two shows every label in red.
Warm up with the "Order it" quiz in the interactive planets in order explorer, then do this sheet on paper. For a harder version with no word bank, print the label the planets worksheet.
Tips for using it
- Say the mnemonic "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos" out loud before starting.
- Start from the Sun and work outward one orbit at a time.
