This -ug board is a roll-and-read game: six rows, one for each face of a die, filled with -ug words. Roll, read a word in that row, and color its box. With two players, take turns; the first to fill a row wins.

Words repeat on the board, which is the point. Reading bug, hug and plug several times in one game builds speed, and the bigger words (snug, shrug) keep it interesting.

The -ug family is one of the friendliest short u families. After the game, try the short u decodable sentences.

Tips for using it

  • Ask your child to read every word in the row before choosing one to color.
  • Use dry-erase markers in a sheet protector to replay the board.
