Alpha Anywhere
Alpha School's at-home program: about two hours a day of adaptive, mastery-based academics on the Timeback platform, with weekly coaching and MAP testing three times a year, for students ages 8 and up working at K–8 level. It is a homeschool program, not a school, and new enrollment is paused as of October 2026.
What is Alpha Anywhere?
Alpha Anywhere is the at-home version of Alpha School's 2 Hour Learning model. Students do core academics on the Timeback platform for about two hours a day, then have the rest of the day for sports, projects and family. It is built by the same team behind Alpha School and uses the same apps and mastery rules.
It is a homeschool program, not a school. Alpha Anywhere provides the curriculum, testing, coaching and reports, while parents keep legal responsibility for their child's education. As of October 2026, new enrollment is paused through the end of the year.
How it works
A new student takes an adaptive diagnostic that sets a nationally normed starting point, then placement tests in each subject. Daily work comes in focused 25-minute sessions, roughly one per core subject. Students must score 90% on mastery checks to move forward, and the system loops back to fill gaps.
Every child gets Breakthrough Coaching: weekly individual and small-group sessions focused on focus, habits and motivation rather than reteaching. NWEA MAP Growth tests run three times a year. Parents see progress on a dashboard and handle structure: a quiet workspace, a routine and encouragement. No human teachers deliver lessons.
What it covers
| Area | What's included |
|---|---|
| Core subjects | Math, reading, language arts, science |
| Extended subjects | Writing through AlphaWrite, Fast Math, vocabulary |
| Grade range | Content through 8th grade; accelerated students can go further in most subjects; science through 9th |
| Not included | Art, music, foreign languages, live classes, diplomas or credits |
Who it's best for
Alpha Anywhere fits independent kids ages 8 and up who like clear goals and visible progress, and homeschool parents who want strong academics without teaching each subject. It also fits families who want to try Alpha's methods without campus tuition.
It is a poor fit if you need to start right now, if your child needs a live teacher, or if you only have a Chromebook or iPad.
Alpha Anywhere cost at a glance
Alpha Anywhere does not publish a price. A third-party review reports about $833 a month before the pause, but treat that as unconfirmed. Pricing is per child, siblings get 5% off, and a 90-day full-refund guarantee applies to new families. See the Alpha Anywhere pricing page for the refund and cancellation details.
Can a scholarship or ESA pay for it?
Alpha Anywhere says it is approved for ESA programs in several states, and that each state's program sets the rules. Because it is a homeschool program, some programs may fund it at their homeschool rate rather than the private school rate; in Texas, for example, the Education Freedom Accounts program pays far less for homeschool students. Browse scholarships and ESAs by state and confirm with your program. Each program decides. Save Alpha Anywhere to your wishlist to keep it on your shortlist.
How it compares
Alpha School runs the same academics on in-person campuses. GT School offers GT Anywhere, a virtual K–8 option for gifted students, and Texas families can look at Texas Sports Academy Online. For a live online school day instead of apps alone, see Recess. For lower-cost self-paced options you can start today, compare Time4Learning and Miacademy.

How much does Alpha Anywhere cost?
Alpha Anywhere does not publish its price as of October 2026, and new enrollment is paused. Its FAQ says pricing is per child and that the fee covers the full curriculum, the app suite, the progress dashboard, mastery testing, MAP Growth testing three times a year, parent support and Breakthrough Coaching. A third-party review, AI Fun Lab, reports that families paid about $833 a month (about $10,000 a year) before the pause, based on parent reports; Alpha has not confirmed that figure. Separately, Alpha's New York center, which uses Alpha Anywhere for academics, lists a $65,000 annual program fee.
Free trial: No trial, but Alpha Anywhere offers a 90-day risk-free guarantee: cancel for any reason within the first 90 days for a full refund of subscription fees. It does not apply to returning users.
Prices from the provider, checked 2026-10-26. Always confirm on the official site.
Can a scholarship pay for Alpha Anywhere?
Alpha Anywhere says ESA eligibility varies by state and that it is approved for ESA programs in several states, without listing them on its FAQ. Because it is a homeschool program rather than a private school, programs that pay different amounts for homeschool and private school students may treat it as a homeschool expense. Each program decides; confirm with your state's program.
No program on Edulist lists Alpha Anywhere yet. Save it to your wishlist and we’ll tell you when one does. Many state ESAs let families buy products like this directly; each program decides.

Alpha Anywhere FAQs
How much does Alpha Anywhere cost?
Alpha Anywhere does not publish its price. A third-party review reports families paid about $833 a month, or about $10,000 a year per child, before enrollment paused, but Alpha has not confirmed it. Pricing is per child with a 5% sibling discount.
Is Alpha Anywhere enrollment open?
No. As of October 2026, Alpha Anywhere says new enrollment is temporarily paused, and Alpha School's FAQ says it is paused through the end of 2026. Families can fill out an interest form to hear when it reopens.
Is Alpha Anywhere a school?
No. Alpha Anywhere says it is a program, not a school. It does not issue diplomas or course credits, so most families register as homeschoolers or pair it with an umbrella or charter school. It provides an activity report families can use as a transcript.
Is Alpha Anywhere accredited?
Alpha Anywhere says it is fully accredited by Cognia. Because it does not issue credits or diplomas, check how your state, umbrella school or future school will treat its records.
What ages does Alpha Anywhere serve?
Ages 8 and up. Core content runs through 8th grade, accelerated learners can reach 12th-grade content in most subjects, and science goes through 9th grade. Older students working below 8th-grade level are welcome.
What is the difference between Alpha Anywhere and Alpha School?
Both use the same 2 Hour Learning methods and apps. Alpha School is an in-person campus with guides, life-skills workshops and afternoons on site; Alpha Anywhere delivers the academics and coaching at home, and parents provide the structure.
Can I use an ESA for Alpha Anywhere?
Possibly. Alpha Anywhere says it is approved for ESA programs in several states and that rules are set by each state's program. Ask your program whether it counts as a homeschool or curriculum expense.
What are good Alpha Anywhere alternatives?
GT Anywhere, from GT School, is a virtual K–8 option in the same network for gifted students. Texas families can look at Texas Sports Academy Online. Outside the network, Recess offers a live online school day, and Time4Learning and Miacademy are lower-cost self-paced curricula.
