Five-millimeter graph paper is the standard fine grid in much of the world and a common choice for middle and high school math and science. Each square is half a centimeter, with a darker line every centimeter (two squares) so measurements are easy to read off.

Use it for graphing lines and functions in pre-algebra and algebra, drawing geometry figures to scale, and plotting lab data in science. Choose A4 if you're printing outside the US, and print at actual size so the squares are true 5 mm.

Tips for using it

  • For a graph, decide the scale first: how many squares stand for one unit on each axis?
  • Switch Darker line every to 10 squares for a grid with a bold line every 5 cm.

Questions

Is 5 mm graph paper the same as quarter-inch?

Close, but not the same. A quarter inch is about 6.35 mm, so 5 mm squares are slightly smaller.

Can I print it on A4?

Yes. Choose A4 under Paper.
