This is a single first-quadrant coordinate grid: the x-axis runs along the bottom and the y-axis up the left side, both numbered 0 to 10, with the origin (0, 0) in the bottom-left corner. Every point on it has two positive coordinates, which is why quadrant 1 is where students start graphing. The Common Core standards introduce it in 5th grade (5.G.A.1 and 5.G.A.2), when students graph points and use them to solve real-world problems.
Use the grid for plotting ordered pairs, drawing shapes from a list of corners, graphing a table of values from a pattern, or a mystery picture. Change Axes go to for a 0–20 grid, or Per page for two or four smaller grids. When students are ready for negative numbers, switch Quadrants to All four.
The top-right part of the plane, where both x and y are positive. A quadrant 1 grid shows only that part, with the origin at the bottom-left corner.
5th grade in the Common Core standards. Students extend to all four quadrants in 6th grade.
