The 8 times table is the 2s doubled three times. To find 8 × 6: double 6 to 12, double to 24, double to 48. It also has a tidy ones-digit pattern: 8, 6, 4, 2, 0, then it repeats (8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80). Kids who notice that pattern can catch their own mistakes.

This printable has the full 8s list to 8 × 12, a skip-counting strip to finish, and a mixed-order practice column so the facts aren't just memorized in sequence. Switch to Some blank for a half-filled list, or Blank for a full quiz with the answer key.

For on-screen practice, play the 8 times table game: it opens on the 8s and brings back the facts your child misses.

Tips for using it

  • Practice doubling first. A child who can double 24 quickly will find the 8s easy.
  • Check answers with the ones-digit pattern: 8 × anything ends in 8, 6, 4, 2 or 0.

Questions

What is the trick for the 8 times table?

Double three times. 8 × 7: 7 → 14 → 28 → 56.

How do I remember 8 × 7 and 8 × 8?

8 × 7 = 56 ('5, 6, 7, 8'). 8 × 8 = 64; a rhyme some families use is 'eight times eight is sixty-four, shut the door.'
