Thirty stacked addition problems that add a number from 0 to 10 to a number from 0 to 20: the facts children use for every bigger sum later on. The answer key prints on page two.

This is the middle of the road. For beginners, try the kindergarten addition worksheets (sums within 10 with small numbers). For column addition, move on to 2-digit addition and then addition with regrouping. Every setting can be changed above, and New problems gives a fresh sheet.

Tips for using it

  • Look for doubles (6 + 6) and near doubles (6 + 7 = 6 + 6 + 1).
  • Make 10 first: 8 + 5 is 8 + 2 + 3, which is 10 + 3.

Questions

What age are these addition worksheets for?

Most children add within 20 in 1st grade (about age 6 to 7). Kindergartners start within 10, and 2nd graders should know these facts from memory.

How do I make addition worksheets harder?

Change First number and Second number to 2-digit or 3-digit, and set Regrouping to Always for practice with carrying.
