Twenty three-digit numbers, each to round to the nearest ten or the nearest hundred. That's exactly the 3rd grade standard: use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
A number line makes rounding make sense: 347 sits between 340 and 350 and is closer to 350. Once the idea clicks, the rule (look at the next digit; 5 or more rounds up) is easy to trust. Rounding to the hundred can change the tens to zero, like 961 → 1,000, which is worth pointing out. Use rounding to check addition on the 3rd grade addition worksheets.
Rounding whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100 using place value. Rounding to any place is 4th grade.
Rounded to the nearest hundred, 961 is between 900 and 1,000 and closer to 1,000.
