Ten rows of eight boxes, each row counting by a different number (2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 10s, 25s or 100s) with three boxes left blank. Rows start at zero or at the counting number, so the patterns are easy to see. The answer key fills in the blanks in red.
Skip counting is the bridge from counting to multiplication: counting by 4s gives the 4 times table. The 2nd grade standards ask children to skip count by 5s, 10s and 100s within 1,000; 2s, 3s and 4s prepare for 3rd grade multiplication, and 25s connect to quarters in money. Practice one number at a time with counting by 5s, by 2s or by 10s.
Counting forward by a number other than 1, like 5, 10, 15, 20. It's the basis for multiplication and for counting money and time.
Kindergartners count to 100 by ones and tens. 2nd graders skip count by 5s, 10s and 100s, and most programs add 2s, 3s and 4s before 3rd grade multiplication.
