A 0–100 number line has 101 tick marks, far too many to fit on one line across a page at a readable size. This printable splits it into five rows: 0–20, 20–40, 40–60, 60–80 and 80–100. Each row starts where the last one ended, so kids can follow the count from one row to the next.

Use it for counting to 100 (a kindergarten standard), adding and subtracting tens, and two-digit addition with jumps: 37 + 25 is a jump of 20 to 57 and a jump of 5 to 62. For a tens-only line, set Count by to 10s. Switch Numbers shown to Some missing for a fill-in worksheet.

Tips for using it

  • Practice jumping by tens: from 23, jump 10 to 33, 43, 53. Ask what stays the same.
  • Cut the rows apart and tape them end to end for one long wall number line.

Questions

Why is the 0–100 number line in several rows?

One row with 101 ticks would make the numbers tiny on a letter-size page. Five rows of 20 keep every label readable.

How do I make a number line counting by tens to 100?

Set Count by to 10s. You'll get one line from 0 to 100 with eleven ticks.
