Fifty addition facts with both numbers from 0 to 10, in horizontal rows built for speed. No fact repeats until all 121 have been used across sheets, so a few sheets cover the whole set. The Common Core standards ask children to know all sums of two one-digit numbers from memory by the end of 2nd grade.

Use it as a short daily drill: set a timer, note the time and the score, and try to beat yesterday's numbers. Facts that are still slow are the ones to practice. Use Focus fact to drill one number at a time, like all the +9 facts.

Tips for using it

  • Time the sheet and record the score; progress over a week is motivating.
  • Facts with 0, 1 and 2 are quick wins; spend practice time on 6 + 7, 8 + 5 and friends.

Questions

How many addition facts are there?

There are 100 facts from 0 + 0 to 9 + 9 (121 if you include 10s). Many are turnarounds (3 + 5 and 5 + 3), so children really learn about half.

How fast should a child answer addition facts?

A common goal is about three seconds or less per fact, which is roughly 50 facts in two to three minutes. Accuracy first, then speed.
