Thirty division facts within 100, like 36 ÷ 4 and 72 ÷ 9, all dividing evenly with answers up to 10. The Common Core standards ask 3rd graders to multiply and divide fluently within 100 and to understand division as an unknown-factor problem: 32 ÷ 8 asks what number times 8 makes 32.

Pair division practice with the matching multiplication table so children see the connection. Fact families help: 4, 8 and 32 give 4 × 8, 8 × 4, 32 ÷ 4 and 32 ÷ 8. For the full grade, try the 3rd grade math review or 3rd grade division word problems.

Tips for using it

  • Use fact families: one multiplication fact gives two division facts.
  • Draw equal groups for the first few: 15 ÷ 3 is 15 dots in 3 circles.
