Twelve clocks at five-minute times, half to read and half to draw. These faces show only 12, 3, 6 and 9, which makes children use what they know about the clock instead of reading every number, a good stretch once the basics are solid. 2nd graders are expected to tell and write time to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
If the reduced numbers are too hard at first, change Clock numbers to 1–12 above or try the 5-minute sheet with labels. For the rest of 2nd grade, see the 2nd grade math review and 2nd grade money worksheets.
Tips for using it
- Use 12, 3, 6 and 9 as anchors: :00, :15, :30, :45.
- Count by 5s from the nearest anchor to the minute hand.
