This sheet drills one table: 26 problems that multiply 0 through 12 by 12, in mixed order so children can't just count up. Every fact from 12 × 0 to 12 × 12 appears exactly twice, and the answer key is on the second page.

The 12s are the 10s plus the 2s: 12 × 7 is 70 + 14 = 84. Knowing 12s helps with dozens, inches in a foot and months in a year.

Use it once a chart is no longer needed. Time a first try, then repeat the sheet (press New problems for a fresh order) over a few days and watch the time drop. When the 12s feel automatic, move on to the next table or a mixed times tables worksheet. Want a reference to learn from first? Print the 12 times table chart.

Tips for using it

  • Split the 12: 12 × 6 = 10 × 6 + 2 × 6 = 60 + 12 = 72.
  • Have your child say the fact out loud while writing it. Saying and writing together sticks better than writing alone.
  • Circle any fact that took more than three seconds. Those are the ones to practice tomorrow.

Questions

Do kids still need the 12 times table?

The Common Core standards only require facts up to 10 × 10, but many curricula teach the 12s because of dozens, feet and inches, and months. It is easy once kids split 12 into 10 + 2.

How many problems are on the 12 times table worksheet?

Twenty-six: each fact from 12 × 0 to 12 × 12 twice, shuffled. Change Number of problems to make it shorter or longer; the facts are always dealt evenly.
