This sheet drills one table: 26 problems that multiply 0 through 12 by 5, in mixed order so children can't just count up. Every fact from 5 × 0 to 5 × 12 appears exactly twice, and the answer key is on the second page.
The 5s follow the minutes on a clock and always end in 0 or 5. An odd number times 5 ends in 5; an even number times 5 ends in 0.
Use it once a chart is no longer needed. Time a first try, then repeat the sheet (press New problems for a fresh order) over a few days and watch the time drop. When the 5s feel automatic, move on to the next table or a mixed times tables worksheet. Want a reference to learn from first? Print the 5 times table chart.
Tips for using it
- Use a clock face: the 5s are the minutes at each number, so 5 × 7 is the minutes at the 7 (35).
- Have your child say the fact out loud while writing it. Saying and writing together sticks better than writing alone.
- Circle any fact that took more than three seconds. Those are the ones to practice tomorrow.
