This sheet drills one table: 26 problems that multiply 0 through 12 by 3, in mixed order so children can't just count up. Every fact from 3 × 0 to 3 × 12 appears exactly twice, and the answer key is on the second page.

A 3s fact is a double plus one more group: 3 × 6 is 6 + 6 + 6, or 12 + 6. Counting by 3s (3, 6, 9, 12, 15) is the other anchor.

Use it once a chart is no longer needed. Time a first try, then repeat the sheet (press New problems for a fresh order) over a few days and watch the time drop. When the 3s feel automatic, move on to the next table or a mixed times tables worksheet. Want a reference to learn from first? Print the 3 times table chart.

Tips for using it

  • Turn a 3s fact into a double plus one more group: 3 × 7 = 14 + 7 = 21.
  • Have your child say the fact out loud while writing it. Saying and writing together sticks better than writing alone.
  • Circle any fact that took more than three seconds. Those are the ones to practice tomorrow.

Questions

What is the trick for the 3 times table?

Double the number, then add it once more. For 3 × 8, double 8 to get 16, then add 8 to get 24. Skip counting by 3s also helps.

How many problems are on the 3 times table worksheet?

Twenty-six: each fact from 3 × 0 to 3 × 12 twice, shuffled. Change Number of problems to make it shorter or longer; the facts are always dealt evenly.
