This sheet drills one table: 26 problems that multiply 0 through 12 by 7, in mixed order so children can't just count up. Every fact from 7 × 0 to 7 × 12 appears exactly twice, and the answer key is on the second page.

The 7s feel hardest, but by the time children reach them they already know most of the facts from other tables (7 × 3 is 3 × 7). Only 7 × 7 and 7 × 8 are truly new. Split a 7 into 5 + 2: 7 × 6 is 30 + 12.

Use it once a chart is no longer needed. Time a first try, then repeat the sheet (press New problems for a fresh order) over a few days and watch the time drop. When the 7s feel automatic, move on to the next table or a mixed times tables worksheet. Want a reference to learn from first? Print the 7 times table chart.

Tips for using it

  • Split the 7: 7 × 8 = 5 × 8 + 2 × 8 = 40 + 16 = 56. And remember 56 = 7 × 8 (5, 6, 7, 8).
  • Have your child say the fact out loud while writing it. Saying and writing together sticks better than writing alone.
  • Circle any fact that took more than three seconds. Those are the ones to practice tomorrow.

Questions

Why is the 7 times table so hard?

Its answers have no easy pattern like the 5s or 9s. The good news: by the time kids get to the 7s, only 7 × 7 and 7 × 8 are new facts; the rest they know from other tables.

How many problems are on the 7 times table worksheet?

Twenty-six: each fact from 7 × 0 to 7 × 12 twice, shuffled. Change Number of problems to make it shorter or longer; the facts are always dealt evenly.
