Thirty horizontal problems mixing addition and subtraction with numbers from 0 to 10. Sums go up to 20, and subtraction never goes below zero. 1st graders are expected to be fluent within 10 and to add and subtract within 20, and switching between the two operations is part of that fluency.
Talk about how the operations connect: if 3 + 7 = 10, then 10 − 7 = 3. When these feel easy, try the sheets for 1st grade addition and 1st grade subtraction with bigger numbers, or the full 1st grade math review.
